The Ripon Noon and Early Bird Kiwanis Clubs are partnering with Fond du Lac County to raise funds for an All-Inclusive Playground at Riggs County Park.
The playground will be home to over 40 features, including swings, climbers, slides and spinners; with many of the equipment being designed to be used by children of all abilities. The poured, rubberized safety surface will ensure the playground will have be ADA-accessible.
Research findings have consistently shown the incredible benefits of inclusive playgrounds. They foster social interaction, promote physical activity, and enhance cognitive development among children of all abilities. By supporting our campaign, you can help us make these advantages accessible to every child in our community.
The playground will sit adjacent to the Splash Pad, in the section of the County Park accesible from Douglas Street. The Splash Pad itself was a project of the Rippon Noon Kiwanis, in Partnership with Fond du Lac County.
The project started following the passing of long-time Kiwanian, Dennis Valstad; who left generous donations to both the Early Bird Kiwanis, whom he was a member of, and the Noon Kiwanis. Both clubs agreed that an appropriate way to honor Dennis' memory was to use those funds in a way that would have the greatest impact on the youth of our community.
The County has plans for initial ground workThe grand total for the project is $270,000, and the Ripon Kiwanis clubs are closing in on reaching the project goal with less than $80,000 needing to be raised. In May, the Noon and Early Bird clubs announced they will match up to $30,000 in new donations made through the remainder of 2023!
